Spaghetti and Meatballs

Spaghetti and meatballs seem like the easiest thing to make, yet I seriously contemplated whether I should even post this meal..for 2 reasons.
1. The photo is horrible
2. The meal was such a rush that my creativity went down the drain......

What changed my mind is that I want to show the I-can't-cook-people out there that I have those nights too. The taste however was good and meatballs and spaghetti is a comforting meal when the weather is starting to show signs of winter, so here goes....

What makes this a good recipe to have, is that after you've made the meatballs, your work is pretty much done, because the oven takes over from there.

For the meatballs

Preheat oven to 180 C

500 gr topside beef, minced
3 slices white bread, soaked in milk
1 small onion
1 TBS Worcester sauce
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried coriander, crushed
2 TBS chopped oregano

Squeeze milk from the bread and mix all the ingredients( not the milk) together with a fork and form into meatballs. Place into a oven proof dish and pour over THIS sauce. Place meatballs in the oven and cook for 1 hour. Serve on cooked pasta or mashed potato with lots of freshly chopped herbs and grated Parmesan cheese.

Nina these look wonderful and I would certainly gobble it up in no time flat! This looks too easy and I've never thought about putting the meatballs in the oven. Great idea!

Oh dear - your worst pictures look better than my best pictures.

Nina, you're way too hard on yourself...I would say the photo makes the spaghetti & meatballs look rather inviting.

On the contrary, the flawless photos can make a dish seem "out of reach", unattainable.

peter g - thx Peter, yes the oven method gives you time to invent some other recipes

giz - I don't believe that

peter m and proud italian cook - thanks you 2, I always appreciate your comments. However I want to try and show people that anyone can produce show stoppers and that it is not so unattainable.

jessy - give it a go then..

kevin - Don't put it off any longer then..

recipe girl - aahh, you put a smile on my face for saying this.

I totally agree with the others, your photo is very inviting! Which, is sort of the point of taking food photos, isn't it? I am loving the ingredients you used for your meatballs...the "wusta" and coriander have my interest piqued. :) Lovely dish, my dear.

Your honesty is refreshing. And your meatball dish looks real (and real good), not staged or styled. I was reading that meat is the hardest food to photograph.
