Peanut Butter and Chocolate must surely be a match made in heaven like....well, tomato and basil or cheese and crackers. I saw these delicious cookies on Fotocuisine and was just waiting for the right time to make them.
This weekend was a sad weekend in South African sport history( our performance at the Olympic Games and our defeat against Australia in the rugby were hard to swallow) and since dad occupied the TV for most of Saturday, I decided to have a baking session with the children. I said: "Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chips" and they were in the kitchen in no time. My only problem with this recipe was that I had to fight off the little fingers trying to steal the dough as they rolled out the cookies.
I also had to make two changes:
I do not know Chrisco, so I just used butter which resulted in the cookies being super - delicious.
I did not plan for this event so I had no brown sugar and used just ordinary white. I think it may have influenced the taste and the color so I will definitely stock up on brown sugar, because this recipe is a keeper. Thanks Fotocuisine!!!

Crisco is just shortening & I thinking butter is a fine substitute. There is nothing like a good peanut butter cookie
They look lovely and very yummy.
You can use any sort of lard or shortening instead of crisco!
Those are some real good lookin cookies! :)
These are a favourite in our home too.
You have combined two of my favorite cookies forming something that sounds amazing!
I would applaud the use of butter over Crisco since I'd expect that to only make these more delicious. And as a peanut butter addict (and pb+chocolate, of course!), these cookies look awesome. Somehow, my wife does not fully appreciate the addictive awesomeness of peanut butter, because if she did, I would probably be making something like this every week...lol, maybe its better for my health, but man oh man, I would eat the whole batch fresh out of the oven
Butter is a fine substitute for Crisco, so good plan! There can be few better combinations that peanut butter and chocolate. I brought back TONS of Hershey's peanut butter Kisses from the US last time I went - basically a lump of peanut butter covered in chocolate. Sinful. I love the sound of these cookies!
kat - thanks for the advise......so we learn all the time.
sylvie - they were indeed
that girl - thanks..
sig - thanks for the visit, I believe your first...
rose - I think in all homes where there are children, these will be a winner.
kevin - why have one if you can have both!!
mike - I go through these Peanut butter phases, I do not like it all the time...most probably for the good...
jeanne - are there still any of those chocolates left. In my home they will not last long.
What a great photo of such tasty cookies :).
