Easy cooking for effortless entertaining Part 1 / Smoked oysters smothered in Cheese!

Photobucket

Today I share with you the second last post of Part 1/Snacks or Starters. What is amazing about these delicious little bites is that you can prepare the different elements of this dish before the time and when your guests arrive, just pop them under the griller and serve!!! Let's make them, shall we?

Smoked Oysters Smothered in Cheese

Ingredients

2 tins smoked oysters
1 French baguette
about 500 gr strong cheddar cheese- grated
1 heaped teaspoon English mustard
1/2 tsp paprika
olive oil
3 heaped Tbsp good mayonnaise
2 eggs

Cut bread in slices , drizzle with olive oil and bake until golden brown( do only one side of the bread) - can be done before hand.
Mix all ingredients except the oysters - can be done before hand
Place one oyster on a slice of the baguette and cover with the cheese mixture. Repeat until all the slices are done. When you are ready to serve, pop them under the griller and watch them!!!
Sprinkle with chopped herbs or dress them up a little for a show stopping treat!

That sounds good although I've never eaten oysters (too expensive) nor seen smoked oysters here! Scrumptious, I'm sure!

Cheers,

Rosa

aaaahhh, I do miss smoked oysters - they were always a cokctial party staple in SA but not nearly as popular here. These are like a deliciously affordable version of oysters Rockefeller!
