My easy Tarts...guaranteed every time!!!!

Photobucket
My easy tarts are real show stoppers.........If you have visitors over and you want to serve something really tasty and super-easy to make, these tarts are just what you are looking for. I guarantee that if you present these delicious tarts straight out the oven...it will stop any conversation, be it politics, economy, children or just plain gossiping!!! What makes these tarts so amazing is that you can be so creative and invent your own flavor combinations. I have simply used whatever I had available in fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs.

Here is a list of ingredients that I always keep.......for those unexpected guests!

-Frozen Puff Pastry
-Cheese - keep one or two interesting cheeses. I like to have goat's cheese, brie, camembert and feta
-fresh herbs - grow your own and use whatever is ready to use
-vegetables - sometimes "last night's leftovers" makes the most amazing toppings
-fruit in season - plums, figs, tomatoes, apple(good with blue cheese), peaches

Tomato, Blue Cheese and Potato Tart

2 Baked potatoes from last night's dinner
truss tomatoes
blue cheese
1 roll puff pastry - thawed
egg wash - 1 egg beaten

Simply arrange your toppings on the pastry.Brush pastry with egg wash and bake in a hot oven until pastry is brown. If you have a vegetable that still needs to cook completely, I suggest you bake the tart for a while without the cheese and then add the cheese in the last 5 minutes of baking. After baking, add a sprigs of herbs and serve piping hot. This is perfect for snacks, but you can also make individual tarts and serve it with a side salad for a light lunch! Enjoy

I received 2 awards in the last 2 weeks and I want to share them with you today!
The first awards, Fabulous Food Blog came from Sam over at My Carolina Kitchen. Sam is such an inspiration to me. She takes us fellow bloggers on these amazing visits to markets and restaurants and she is always ready with a inspirational comments.
Rules:
You must include the person that gave you the award and link it back to them. You must list five of your “Fabulous Addictions” in the post.
You must copy and paste these rules in the post.
Right click the award icon and save to your computer; then post with your own awards. To my way of thinking, this is a nice tribute and it widens the reading audience.
Along with passing the award along, the rules say you must list five of your “Fabulous Addictions.”

So without further ado, here are my 5 Fabulous addictions...

1. Blogging - I religiously wake up every morning to blog uninterruptedly.
2.Gadgets - I cannot walk past a gadget...especially a kitchen gadget!
3.Cooking - I very seldom get days when I really do NOT want to cook
4.Recipe Books/Magazines - I seldom use them, but I do get inspired by reading them
5.Coffee - I cannot start my day without a good cup of coffee.

I want to pass this award on to: Lick your own bowl, For the love of Cooking, Elly says "Opa"

The second award came from none other than my dear friend Maryann over at Finding la Dolce Vita. It is called the Honest Scrap Award. I am supposed to tell you 10 honest things about myself and then pass it on...So here goes!!!

1. I am compulsive when it comes to locking doors at night...I check and re- check and check again.
2. I have never been to Europe or America and although I would love to go there, my family will always come first.
3. I am very handy in and outside the house - I can do most chores a man can do! ( I married late in my life...a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!)
4.I would have loved to be a medical doctor.
5.My favorite movie, believe it or not is also Shirley Valentine!!!
6.I love "oldtime" music - Mario Lanza, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole etc.
7.I can conduct choirs and I have played the horn in an orchestra once...many moons ago!!
8.I cannot read music - it would have made NO.7 so much easier.
9.I don't like sushi as much as I should!
10. I wish I lived closer to so many of you!

I am passing this award on to: Proud Italian Cook, The Leftover Queen, Homemade Heaven

Your tart looks like it came from a pastry shop. Amazing you made it from simple ingredients. Now this one I think I could make.

I'm envious that you can blog uninterrupted. My husband says I hog the computer. Your blog truly deserves to be called Fabulous in every way. The Honest Scrap award is darling. Being honest is a good thing.

I've voted and confirmed your blog for the SA blog awards - used every email address I had. Fingers crossed for you but you're a shoe-in.
