Bake a Difference and Save 7 lives……….. if only saving lives was that easy. Certainly it takes more than baking a few cupcakes to save lives.

Bake a difference  and  Save  7  lives is the brainchild of Gabrielle le Roux or better known as Gabbles to us. Gabbles has featured on this blog before when she made a gorgeous, Sinful salad.

On the 20th May 2013 Gabrielle and her team are hosting the BAKE A DIFFERENCE SAVE 7 LIVES CUPCAKE DRIVE at the Cape Town Hotel School Restaurant along with 9 well known chefs/food personalities paired up with 9 transplant patients to create awareness for the Organ Donor Foundation. They have a goal of reaching 50 000 registrations by the end of 2013 and we are trying to show our support and do our bit to help them attain this goal.bake

What makes her so excited and passionate about this cause, is that it is one of the easiest and biggest commitments that you can make to making a massive difference to not only one life, but to seven! Every person has the ability through organ donating, to save 7 lives of those who are anxiously awaiting donors! It’s a commitment that you make to give the gift of life after your own death by preventing seven families from going through what your family inevitably will. One signature is all it takes to change the course of someone’s life and give him or her exactly that, a future.

The celebrities that have put their weight behind this amazing cause is Chef Lorraine from the Cape Grace Hotel, Chef Danielle from the Granger Bay Hotel School, Jenny Morris, Ina Paarman, Dawn Jorgensen, Chef Rene from The One and Only Hotel, Sue Anne from Table of Friends, Abigial Donnely from Eat Out magazine and of course lucky me!

One of the big highlights of the day is of course that Eric Lanlard, Cake Boy will be joining us to demonstrate his own red velvet cupcake recipe.  Eric is here for the Good Food and Wine show, but has taken time off his very tight schedule to be a part of this worthy cause.

To bake a cupcake seems like such an insignificant thing to do, but with our cupcakes we have caused quite a stir and many people have registered online already. You do not have to bake a cupcake, all you have to do, is to register and even that you can do online!

Just in case you feel the need to bake some cupcakes… here are some  ideas.
