Pretty blog was the result of many cups of coffee and many months of hard work! Christine Meintjes and Nicola Pretorius’ dreamt of building a wedding blog  and this dream came true in  July 2010.  This dream was inspired by Christine’s involvement in the wedding industry as a well-known wedding photographer.

Pretty Blog or The Pretty Blog is one of those blogs that you will get totally hooked on. Back in the days when I started blogging,  our photos were just horrible and our writing did not leave much to the imagination either. These days, I think South African bloggers do not have to stand back one inch for their blogger buddies in other parts of the world. I think we are right up there with the best in the world. The Pretty Blog  quietly appeared on the scene and slowly but steadily crept into out timelines and hearts. There is something so girly,  “pretty” and romantic about their work, I just love escaping to their blog to look at all the pretty photos and delicious recipes.

Then last week I met Nicola Pretorius and I am not sure what image I had of her in my mind, but I was so pleasantly surprised to find a wonderful, warm “Afrikaans girl” next to me as the one half of The Pretty Blog team. Now that I have a face behind this beautiful blog, I will definitely visit there more often.

When I invited Nicola to be a guest on my radio slot on RSG, she jumped  at the opportunity and when I asked her for an easy recipe, she did not disappoint with these delicious Chocolate Cakes in Jars. With the holiday starting on Friday, it is the ideal activity for mom and the children to do together and maybe take the children on a picnic, each with their own Chocolate Cake in a Jar.

Method

Preheat the oven to 180 ° C.
Spray the glass jars or two springform cake pans with a diameter of 26cm, with non-stick spray.
Add all the ingredients for the cake batter together and mix with an electric beater until smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake tins or jars. Fill the jars only halfway. Place the jars on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes (jars ), or 1 hour for the larger cake.
Meanwhile, melt the chocolate and mix the hot chocolate with the caramel until smooth and shiny .
Remove the cake from the oven, allow to cool and decorate with fake chocolate ganache.

Tomorrow  morning  just after the 9 o’clock news, I will be  chatting to Nicola Pretorius and she will be sharing this easy recipe with you!  Get ready to be amazed! I will also in weeks to come take you into the kitchens of other bloggers, chefs and interesting South Africans this year. So buckle up, it is going to be an awesome ride. Tune in 100-104FM or listen online here!

What a quirky idea! I will have to try it one day. I love all kinds of chocolate cake so I am sure I would love this.
