South African Food Bloggers Conference 2010

The South African Food Bloggers Conference is happening finally and I think it is going to be a wonderful conference. Not only will we be fortunate enough to meet other bloggers from Food24, but also other South African Bloggers. The day is going to be full and jam packed with  valuable information that will definitely inspire you to take your blog a notch or two up.....

A Birthday Party for my son...but fun was had by all.

PhotobucketTo plan a birthday party so shortly after the holiday season can be challenging to say the least. The first thing that I had to consider was that at age 11 boys are not too keen to do the cupcake and Pass-the parcel parties.

3 Cheers for Ginger beer........

After my post True South African fare where I made Bobotie, I got quite a few requests for South African recipes. Ginger Beer is a drink that we all grew up on and all major days on the calender are celebrated with this drink, eg. Christmas, New Year, family picnics etc...........
When I searched Google, I soon found that it is not a true South African beverage and that it originated in England in the 1700's.

Willow Creek..

Sometimes you come across products and after tasting them, you know that your kitchen will never be without this.

I have tasted this Lemon- flavored olive oil from WillowCreek in the Nuy Valley , South Africa and since then I use it on virtually anything - salads, spuds, chicken veggies and when the cravings come in between meal times, I will just find a chunk of bread and dip it - aaahhhh heavenly!

Under construction....

Nothing new today-I am busy with a new "image"... Come visit soon and check it out.

Have a great day.

Remember 1 Tim 2 verse 6,7 and you'll be fine today!

By the way, I have also joined the Foodie Blogroll to see what other "foodies" around the world are up to. If you care to join just follow this link.

Holiday blues.....

I had a fantastic holiday with my family and we created memories that will last us a lifetime. I will post my favourite foodshots as well as others, but this is just to let you know - I AM BACK! and my wish for you all is health, happiness and lots of happy mealtimes for 2008. In the meantime....

Playtime in Plettenberg Bay

We are having a glorious time in Plettenberg Bay and for me, the best is that I can watch other people cook and just enjoy the fruits of someone else's labour. The weather is great and after 2 days we also got into "relax mode".

Butcher's blocks , kitchens and me...........

The year before last, my dad made a beautiful butcher's block for my mom - really a piece of art!! When we all gathered at our holiday house in Hermanus, my brother asked "So, who of us will inherit this block one day?" ( there are three of us).

Manna Epicure

Hubby took me for breakfast this morning. The children had concert practise at school. We opted for a place called "Manna Epicure" in Kloofstreet Cape Town. It is my 2nd visit to this restaurant and like the first time, I was not disappointed.

Anthony Worral-Thompson

Anthony Worral-Thompson has always been one of my favourite chefs, simply because his style of cooking is uncomplicated and wholesome.
