Baking Tarts for Dummies

"Baking Tarts for Dummies" could easily be a sequel to all the books with similar titles that are already on the shelves. I sometimes wonder where all these titles are coming from?  "Chewing food for Dummies", "Parenting for dummies", "Photoshop for dummies" and heaven forbid "Pimpin for Dummies".

A Quiche or a savory tart? What do you think?

I'm not sure! Some people insist on calling it a quiche and some people are quite happy with the term savory tart! I can go into a whole explanation of the differences between the two, but in short....a tart can be savory  or sweet or whereas a quiche can only be savory.

Tasty Tarts 2 - This time with a Greek flavor!

Tarts are normally made with a single layered pastry base which is then filled with some sweet or savory fillings. The pastry can be shortcrust, puff pastry or even  crumb-based. The term "tarts" even include quiches which is always a favorite in my kitchen.

Tarts - Fruity and Petit!

Tarts - savory or sweet are always winners on any tea table or for any meal, but I think sweet tarts are by far more popular than their savory "cousins"! It is just because the possibilities for fillings and crusts are endless and by just using one or two different ingredients every time you will soon have quite a repertoire of tasty tart recipes!

It does not always have to be planned weeks in advance( I like those too), but a simple "Let's have coffee and sarmies at the beach" is AS good and it always creates wonderful memories for our children.

I was so inspired after the magazine article that I cooked and cooked and then...cooked some more. I took beautiful pictures too, but for the life of me, I could not get myself to sit at the computer and post some of the recipes.

Brie and Peppadew Tartlettes

I am sure that by now you have spotted a few changes around here with very little changing on the recipe side of this site, but rest assured.... We spent LONG nights trying to just come up with a new header.
