My My Best BBQ Salmon Recipe came after a few tries and errors. Sometimes I grilled it for too long, sometimes not enough. This time it was just perfect.
My Best BBQ Salmon Recipe is simple, do-able and utterly delicious. You should give it a try sometime. If you like grilled fish, like snoek or cob, you will love this one more. It is packed with so much flavor and salmon is so good for you.
Salmon is one of the best sources of the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids. This is an essential fatty acid, as you body cannot make it, you have to get it from your diet. Salmon is also an excellent source of protein which is perfect for the body to heal after injury, protecting bone health and maintaining muscle mass during weight loss and while we are getting older. This kind of sums me up. I am aging faster than I would like to and I am trying to lose weight, so this makes salmon a good choice for me. We love salmon and it is such a versatile fish that even the kids ( big and small ones) are happy. These sliders are always a treat. My Potato Salad with Hot Smoked Peppered Salmon is utterly delicious and is actually a main meal more than it is a salad. If grilling on the coals is not your thing, try it under the grill in the oven. Just always spray the grid or pan with non-stick spray, otherwise the salmon skin is wasted and stuck to the pan.
My Best BBQ Salmon Recipe
Serves 4 – 6
Ingredients
1 x 1,2 kg half salmon fillet
100 g salted butter
5 ml salt
10 ml/ 1 t Sichuan pepper or normal pepper
5 ml/smoked chili flakes
2 ml/ ½ t coriander seeds – lightly crushed
2 ml/½ t cumin seeds
Juice of 1 lemon
Method
Prepare you fire or kettle braai and allow the coals to cool down to medium. Salmon needs a gentle heat. I spray the grid with Spray n Cook, just to be sure it does not stick the the grid. Season the salmon on both sides with the salt and lay on the grid. Melt the butter in a small pot and add all the other ingredients to the melted butter. Use the butter mix to baste the salmon while cooking. Serve with pap, mealies braaied on the fire and Marogo
