Easy Glass Jar Noodles

Easy Glass Jar Noodles is your answer to teens and husbands who are constantly hungry, especially now when the cold, rainy days are here.

Easy Glass Jar Noodles are also known as Mason Jar Noodles or Mason Jar Ramen. The internet is flooded with recipes, but the good part here, is that there are no recipes. It is a basic idea, that is brilliant by the way, that you can make your own. We love it. At my first encounter with a clear broth was at a Thai cooking class where made Tom Yum Goong. I was hooked. Tom Yum Goong is slightly different as it is not made with noodles.

Ingredients for jar noodles

Back to the glass jar noodles. It is the easiest and quickest food to make, best part is the kids and hubby can help themselves if you plan a little in advance. The ingredients I used was literally what I had in my fridge. You can play around with different vegetables and protein. Even use different kinds of noodles as long as they can cook with just adding boiling water.

Method

Divide the salmon or shredded chicken into each glass jar evenly, then add 5 ml of soy sauce, Chili sauce and lime juice to each jar.

Now layer the vegetables followed by the stock cubes. I crumble them. Lastly divide the noodles evenly amongst the jars. Cover with lid and keep in fridge until needed.
When the kids come home from school, famished, remove the jars from the fridge and pour boiling water in to fill jar. Stir the content (I use chop sticks) until the stock cubes have dissolved and the noodles are soft.
Allow the jars to rest for about 5 minutes before you decant it into a bowl and dig in. I eat mine with a few drops of sesame and chili oil.
