This Cheesy Biltong Pull Apart Bread is going to be the next showstopper at your braai with family and friends.
The Cheesy Biltong Pull Apart Bread has all the elements you could possibly want. A serious cheese pull, the fines beef biltong and of course super soft bread.
I know, I know, how can we push aside a good garlic bread? Well, let’s have an open mind here. If you braai as often as we do, there will be plenty opportunities to try all sorts of breads.
Biltong and cheese are both very rich, so although my inspiration came from this delicious recipe on The Belle Vie Blog, I decided to use plain white bread dough. I took another shortcut by buying it from our local bakery.
Cheesy Biltong Pull Apart Bread
makes 1 loaf
Ingredients
1 kg white bread dough
2 x 100 g Fairview Cheddar Garlic & Rosemary
100 g mozarella cheese
125 ml fine beef biltong
a handful fresh thyme of rosemary – I prefer thyme as rosemary can be very overpowering
Method
Line a bread pan of about 7 cmPreheat the oven to 180 C. Grated all the cheeses and mix it in a bowl. ( The cheddar is for the flavor and the mozarella for that cheese pull.
Roll out the dough to 5mm on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough in long strips – the width of your bread pan.( 10 x 35 cm) Now cut the dough in “tiles” the width and depth of the pan. Sprinkle biltong and cheese on each tile and stack into the pan until the pan is full. Place a few sprigs thyme in the loaf and bake for 40 – 45 minutes. Serve immediately.
